ERMINAZ is a multi-PocketQube amateur-radio mission led by AMSAT-DL (Germany) in collaboration with Libre Space Foundation, AMSAT-EA (Spain), ESERO-Germany / Bochum Observatory, and other EU non-profits. The spacecraft reuse the LSF-developed QUBIK PocketQube bus and communications system.
What LSF does
LSF contributes the PocketQube platform heritage (QUBIK-derived bus), the communications / SSDV stack, and — for the ERMINAZ-2 series — provides the PocketQube Deployer flown on the UARX OSSIE mission, integration support, and ground-station coverage through SatNOGS. Early 2024 work focused on the SSDV image-downlink addendum and the ‘kerel’ imaging campaign.
Where we’re going
Demonstrate fully open-source PocketQube-class amateur radio platforms (CW beacon, CCSDS telemetry, SSDV, AX.25 digipeater, store-and-forward) accessible to radio amateurs worldwide; grow a reusable PocketQube deployer supply line; advance radiation / IMU science for the amateur-satellite service.
Where the project stands
ERMINAZ-1U and -1V flight-ready (launch originally RFA-1 from SaxaVord, re-manifested). ERMINAZ-2U / -2V / -2X in integration for SpaceX Transporter-14 via UARX OSSIE using the LSF PocketQube Deployer. IARU frequency coordination filed 2025-01-05 (API/A/13684).
Milestones
- 2022-09 — collaboration initiated with AMSAT-DL
- 2024-04 — SSDV Addendum imaging / test campaign (LSF Athens)
