Ephemerista is an AGPL-3.0 Python library — backed by the Rust astrodynamics core Lox — for end-to-end space mission engineering: orbit propagation, reference-frame and time-scale conversions, event detection, spacecraft and ground-station modelling, link budgets, constellation design, and coverage / revisit-time analysis.
What LSF does
LSF leads the design and implementation, the Python API for flight-dynamics engineers, the web-based GUI (the Ephemerista Simulator), and the Rust astrodynamics library Lox that powers it. The stack is developed openly on LSF GitLab.
Where we’re going
Become a credible open-source alternative to proprietary mission-analysis suites for commercial constellation design, especially telecoms, with pluggable integrations into existing industry tools and a sustainable open community.
Where the project stands
Initial ESA-funded release completed; MS1 (User Needs & Requirements, Development Plan) and MS2/MS3 deliverables produced. An ARTES Project Web Page has been delivered for MS3. Ongoing work focuses on a comprehensive Software Development Plan for the full version.
Milestones
- ESA contract 4000139641 signed
- MS1 — User Needs & Requirements, Development Plan & Costing, Survey
- MS2 / MS3 — simulator releases and ARTES Project Web Page
- Public release of Ephemerista Simulator and docs at docs.ephemerista.space
