The work
Many of the antennas our spacecraft and payloads need do not exist off the shelf. This role designs them.
A typical month mixes:
- Design. Patch arrays and antennas that fit the space available and meet gain and beamwidth targets, simulated before they are built.
- Prototypes. Building them in our lab and iterating with the electronics team.
- Measurement. Gain, pattern and matching on the VNA and in antenna-range or chamber campaigns that you plan and run.
- Front-end protection. Limiters and filters, specified with the RF electronics team so strong signals do not damage the receivers.
- Qualification. Choosing materials and designs that survive thermal, vibration and outgassing tests.
What we’re looking for
- A degree in electrical engineering or physics and 2–5 years designing antennas or RF front-ends.
- Experience with an EM simulation tool; open-source tools such as openEMS are welcome.
- Hands-on RF lab work: VNA, spectrum analyser, pattern measurements.
- Space, defence or telecom product experience is a plus.
- Fluent English. Greek is a plus.
How we work
LSF is a self-managing, open-source non-profit. We make decisions in the open, prefer durable docs over standing meetings, and review each other’s work on GitLab. This role is on site at our Athens HQ (Irous 21, 104 42 Athens), next to the cleanroom and lab where our flight hardware is integrated and tested. We aim for a start between December 2026 and February 2027.
We weigh fit with the foundation and its mission at least as heavily as fit with the position. Read more in our hiring documentation.
